Cheryl Fosdick is CF Design’s visionary. She handles virtually all preliminary discussions, programming, renderings and modeling. Her talents have been recognized since she first began working, perhaps, in part, from having grown up inhabiting modern architectural homes herself.

As a young girl in Chicago, her family lived in an apartment building designed by Mies van der Rohe. At age 11, they moved to St. Paul’s University Grove neighborhood, the planned academic community of small houses designed by the state’s finest modern designers. It’s no wonder that right out of the box (grad school), Cheryl was recognized for the “mature and thoughtful quality of her work.” (Architecture Minnesota, 1998)

In 1985, she received her Bachelors of Environmental Design from the University of Minnesota. She first worked as an Associate at Mulfinger/Susanka Architects, then as a Principal at Salmela/Fosdick. She received a Masters of Architecture in 1995 and founded CF Design, Ltd shortly after.

As an associate member of the American Institute of Architects (A.I.A.) since 1992, Cheryl's residential designs have won three Minnesota A.I.A. Honor Awards and an American Wood Council Award.

Cheryl continues to learn from and teach young designers through adjunct teaching for the University of Minnesota's School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. In addition, she has lectured at The Walker Art Center, M.I.T., and North Dakota State University.
