Inspection Services
Some of the most wonderful changes and adaptations to projects in construction come about by staying loosely involved on site through the months of construction. We strongly recommend our inspection services during construction. They represent another opportunity to make the work better. When we join you, your contractor, and your craftsmen on site, we can help anticipate, head-off, or resolve any site-specific issues. Building contractors, materials fabricators, and custom craftsmen appreciate having knowledgeable designers in the loop.
Payment Tracking
Ideally, we also like to track each project through the payments to the contractor. We do this either as an agent representing the client in the dispersal of bank and personal funds, or for the client directly in a process paralleling that of the General Contractor's draw requests. Payment tracking gives an added level of comfort and oversight for our clients and it keeps us smarter in the decision-making process throughout construction. We recommend that all clients set aside a contingency of 8-12 percent of projected construction costs for surprises and unknown changes. In a well-prescribed process with clear site conditions, most changes are desired additions by the client. If no changes arise, you've got some extra money for furnishings in your new space!
