Phase I - The Lay of the Land
In the preliminary phase of our design process, we work with you to gather all the information and impressions necessary for designing the home best for you. Getting the lay of the land begins with initial meetings in which we come to understand your language--your aesthetic, your habits and particular habitation needs. We also discuss your budget and timeline, so we can have these parameters in mind while brainstorming. Equally important, we attend to the site, visiting it, reviewing zoning laws and--when needed--ordering surveys.
Phase II - Design Development
Now we talk through, sketch out, mold and draft the actual design of your structure. This begins with identifying the backbone of your design program, the ever-refined description of what you do and don't want. We build scale models of our designs so that spaces can be perceived more truly, including orientation to daylight and cabinetry features. Finally, we render the detailed drawings a contractor and fabricators will need to build your house efficiently.
Phase III - Construction Oversight
For
us, the process of design doesn't end until the last bit of finish has been applied, the last fixture installed. We have close working relationships with the region's best contractors, fabricators, trades and craftspeople. So, though you could ditch us with blueprints in hand, most clients take advantage of our inspection services during construction. We also like to provide payment tracking, to keep tabs on the expenses of the project.
