This project is built of brick, wood, steel, and whimsy. The home (3,600 sq. ft.) evolved as a collaboration between CF Design and the client, Jon Thorpe, himself a designer. Cheryl provided the swooping spaces within which Jon could play with color, texture and form.
The animated roof-lines of this home translate into some dramatically exposed structural members indoors. Above the brick entry hearth, an enormous reclaimed timber forms the spine of the living room, its ribs radiating to the ceiling. The master bedroom suite lies behind an open arc of brick.
Through the generous river-side windows, the meander of water is ever-present. Inside, the kitchen, sculpted of a dozen different wood species, hums along.
