This project grew from the client's desire to create a home built around the social gathering of extended family while spanning the site's major topographical feature--a col between two hills. Its bold forms feel grand, though the home itself is relatively small, 2,780 sq. ft.
The communal bridge area is glazed floor-to-ceiling, connecting it to woodland life outside. The bridged center space holds kitchen, living room, family room, and hearth.
The curved pod resting on one hill includes master bedroom, bath & sauna, and a screened sleeping porch. Kids and guests share a three-story tower with walk-out deck on the second hill. With complimentary landscaping, a flagstone terrace flows river-like beneath the bridge space above.
